Dwarf elder (Sambucus ebulus)

Dwarf elder is related to elder but it is a wild bush. Its leaves, flowers and fruits are similar to elder's. It has a bad fragrance, but it is perfect for a lot of therapies. The root has cleaning and purgative properties and it also prevents exaggerated appetite. It is also meant for diets.
It grows in the mountains and on river beds or forest skirts. The root is very long and powerful. Wash the root well, slice and dry it out into thin layers. Store in fresh place.

Prescriptions

Brandy soak
- it is a perfect remedy; take 100 gr of fresh root, slice and mix it with 1 litre of strong natural brandy and let it soak for 5 days; then, filter and keep it into dark-coloured bottles; take 1-3 spoons, on empty stomach, before eat - for diet, and 2 hours before eat - for purgative results.

Cold soak
- soak two teaspoons of grinded root into a glass of water (200 ml), over night; then, filter it. Drink 1-2 glasses/day, on empty stomach.

It is perfect for curing:
- constipation: perfect laxative-purgative drink; drink 1-2 spoons of soak, 2-3 times/day, on empty stomach. A cure should last for 2 weeks; take a week-break and do it again.
- fatness, exaggerated appetite: the root fastens the process of elimination; it also improves digestion; it is a perfect cleaning and laxative drink; it also enables fast weight loss. The bad smell prevents exaggerated appetite. Therefore, you should take 1 teaspoon before eating. Do not take an overdose because it is very strong. In case of overdose, you might lose weight too fast and become anaemic.
- hypoacid gastritis, poor digestion: take one teaspoon of powder, 20-30 minutes before main meals. It stimulates and regulates digestion wonderfully.
- cystitis, chronical kidney disorder, ascites: drink 1/2 glass of cold soak, four times/day. In case you cannot tolerate too many liquids, take powder: a teaspoon, 3-4 times/day.

Caution!
The roots have purgative properties but they can also have side effects: dehidratation, abdominal colic or irritation of the digestive tract. Do not over-exceed normal dose. Keep out of children reach!

Inadvisable!
- for internal use: in case of diarrhoea, irritable colon, hyperacid gastritis, poor immunity or vomiting sensation, do not use it.
